Controller
Legal Watch is a service by Omnilex. Controller: Omnilex AG, Hohlstrasse 186, 8004 Zurich, Switzerland. For any question or request about your data: Marc Rüdisühli, marc.rudisuhli@omnilex.ai, or the « A question or a suggestion? » form at the foot of every page.
Data we process
Your email address, required to send you the digest.
Your preferences: cantons, areas of law, language.
The creation and modification dates of your subscription.
If you write to us through the suggestion form and leave your address, it is used only to reply to you and is not added to the mailing list.
What we do not process
No analytics, no advertising trackers, no profiling.
The decisions you have read and your display filters stay in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to us.
Purpose and legal basis
Your data is used solely to compose and send the weekly digest. The legal basis is your consent, given when subscribing and revocable at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of sends made before the withdrawal.
Processors
Vercel: website hosting and scheduled tasks.
Supabase: subscription database.
Resend and Amazon SES: email delivery, from Ireland. Your address is passed on with every send, which is what makes writing to you possible.
Anthropic: translation and summarisation of decisions. Only the public text of court decisions is sent; your email address never is.
Omnilex: source of decisions and legislation.
Where your data is processed
The website and scheduled tasks are hosted by Vercel in its Frankfurt region, Germany, therefore within the European Union. Our other providers may process certain data in the European Union, notably in Ireland, and in the United States depending on their technical configuration and their own subprocessors. Where data is transferred to a country whose level of protection is not recognised as adequate, we rely on appropriate safeguards: depending on the provider, certification under the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses.
We prefer to state this rather than write « hosted in Switzerland », which would be inaccurate today.
Cookies
A single cookie is set when you subscribe, so that you can narrow your preferences on the confirmation page. It lasts thirty minutes, is inaccessible to scripts, and is strictly necessary to that flow. No other cookie is used, which is why this site does not ask you for cookie consent.
Retention
Your preferences are kept for as long as your subscription is active. When you unsubscribe, sending stops immediately and your address stays on a suppression list, so that we do not write to you again by mistake, for instance if someone re-subscribed you. You can ask for your address to be removed from that list. We act on it, unless limited retention remains necessary to meet a legal obligation or to evidence that you exercised your rights.
Your rights
You may access, correct or delete your data. Every email contains a link to your preferences and a one-click unsubscribe link. For anything else, contact Marc Rüdisühli, Omnilex AG, through the form at the foot of every page. You may also ask for processing to be restricted, object to it, receive your data in a machine-readable format to take it elsewhere, and withdraw your consent at any time, without effect on the past.
You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, in the European Union the authority of your country of residence.
Disclosure to third parties
Your data is never sold, rented or exchanged. It is disclosed only to the processors listed above, and only as far as sending the digest requires.
